Passed B.Sc., LL.B. from Sarvajanik Law College, Surat. Enrolled as an Advocate on 20.5.1968 with the Bar Council of Gujarat. Passed LL.M. with Taxation Group from L.A. Shah College, Ahmedabad. Started practice in 1968 with late Mr. Giriraj Navinchandra Desai, and was appointed as Assistant Government Pleader in 1989 as well as Additional Public Prosecutor in the High Court in 1991 and also worked as Additional Standing Counsel in the High Court from October, 1998. Appeared before Hon'ble Supreme Court in cases of Cibatul, ATIC, Godfrey Philips, Townplanning, Sick Textile Undertakings (Taking over Management) matters, Ambalal Sarabhai Enterprises matters, Hotel Balji matter wherein constitutional validity of Sec. 15B of the Gujarat Sales Tax Act was challenged and also in the case of ORG Systems wherein principle of valuation in relation to computers was involved. Appeared before the High Court of Gujarat in Full Bench cases of Calico Mills and Mahendra Mills. Also appeared in the mater wherein Sec. 11B of the Central Excise Act was challenged and before Full Bench in the matter where omission of Rules 10 and 10A was considered. Appeared before the High Court in Company managerial remuneration and winding-up matters and Trade Mark matters of Cibatul and Bharat Textile cases regarding Court Fees, Co-operative Societies Act, Arbitration Act, Foreign Awards Act, Motor Vehicle Tax Act, Entertainment Act, Luxury Tax Act and in the case of Modern Construction Co. Also appeared in Sales Tax References and Sales Tax Writ Petitions. Also served as part-time Lecturer in City Law College and L. A. Shah Law College, Ahmedabad teaching Trade Mark, Central Sales Tax and Administrative Laws. Also worked as part-time Lecturer in Company Secretaries Institute teaching Company Law and Central Excise and Customs and worked as part-time Lecturer in LL.M. for Gujarat University teaching Central Sales Tax. Also participated in several Seminars, Conferences and Workshops held by the Bar Council of India.
