Born on 12.5.1945. Enrolled as an Advocate before the Kerala Bar Council at Cochin on 16.3.1968. Practised both on Civil and Criminal sides at Ernakulam . Appointed as Munsif in the Kerala Judicial Service on 10.1.1973 and promoted as Assistant Sessions Judge on 23.7.1982. Posted as Deputy Registrar (Judicial) in the High Court at Kerala on 9.9.1983. Resigned on 28.3.1984. Appointed as Additional Judge of the Kerala High Court on 26.9.1985 and confirmed as Permanent Judge on 11.7.1986. Transferred to the High Court of Gujarat on 24.11.1997. Appointed as Chief Justice of the High Court of Gujarat on 16.7.1998. Appointed as Chief Justice of the Madras High Court on 8.9.1999. Elevated as Judge, Supreme Court of India on 8.6.2000.
