Born on 26.11.1950, at Bombay. Son of Late Shri C.K. Upadhyaya, retired District Superintendent of Police. Graduated in Economics from Saurashtra University in 1971. Thereafter, obtained degree in Law in 1974 from Saurashtra University. Passed LL.M. (Junior - Part-I) in 1975 from Saurashtra University and awarded scholarship with First Rank on merits. Enrolled as an Advocate on September, 1974. Practised as an Advocate in District & Sessions Court, Rajkot on Civil & Criminal sides. Joined Gujarat State Judicial Service as Civil Judge (Jr.Divsn.) and Judicial Magistrate First Class in December, 1975 and served as such at Surat, Dhoraji (Rajkot) and Veraval(Junagadh). As Civil Judge (Jr.Divsn.) & Judicial Magistrate First Class at Dhoraji (Rajkot), wiped out the entire arrears of the petitions arose under Section 125 of Cr.P.C., and had received a letter of appreciation from the Honourable the then Chief Justice, Gujarat High Court. Promoted as Civil Judge (Sr.Divsn.) since August, 1984. Was promoted as Assistant Judge & Addl. Sessions Judge since March, 1988 and served as such at Mahesana and Bhuj. Promoted to the cadre of District Judge since August, 1992 and served as Joint District Judge at Junagadh and Himatnagar (Sabarkantha). Has worked as Independent District & Sessions Judge since February, 1996 and worked as such at Bhuj, Panchmahals at Godhra, Jamnagar and Vadodara. Appointed as Registrar (Administration) of the Gujarat High Court on November, 2004, and was thereafter appointed as Registrar General of the Gujarat High Court from February, 2007 to November, 2007.
